MetaHz / MetaClaw — Dual License Copyright (C) 2026 Baicheng Chen. All rights reserved. Effective for new MetaHz-owned releases designated under these terms on or after September 17, 2026. Choose one of these licensing paths: 1. MetaHz Community License 1.0: free for personal, noncommercial use by an individual, subject to the terms below. 2. Education or commercial license: contact xyzhang@ucsd.edu and obtain a separate written agreement before educational, institutional or commercial use. An inquiry alone is not a license. METAHZ COMMUNITY LICENSE 1.0 1. Scope "Software" means the MetaHz-owned source code, software and accompanying documentation expressly distributed under this license. "Licensor" means the holder of the applicable copyright. This license grants rights only to material the Licensor owns or is authorized to license under these terms. Third-party components, dependencies, data, models, papers, assets and other separately licensed material are excluded. Their own notices and licenses continue to apply. No rights to those materials are expanded or restricted by this license. Where material carries a different applicable license, that license governs that material. 2. Free personal-use grant Subject to these terms, the Licensor grants you, as an individual, a worldwide, nonexclusive, royalty-free right to use, reproduce and modify the Software solely for your own private, noncommercial personal or hobby projects. You may share copies of the Software or your modifications without charge with other individuals for use within this same grant. You must include this license and preserve copyright, attribution and third-party notices. Mark modified versions clearly. Recipients receive their rights directly from the Licensor under this license; you may not grant broader rights to the Software. 3. Uses requiring a separate agreement The Community License does not authorize: - Education, teaching, coursework, training programs, academic research, or use by or on behalf of a school, university, laboratory or other institution. - Any business, employment, professional, consulting or commercial activity, including internal business operations and research and development. - Offering the Software as a product, hosted service or part of a paid or monetized offering, or using it to provide services to another person or organization for compensation. Contact xyzhang@ucsd.edu for an education or commercial license covering your intended use. Rights, fees, support and deployment scope are established only by that separate written agreement. Free access does not by itself authorize uses outside the Community License. 4. Notices and reserved rights Do not remove or obscure copyright, license or attribution notices. You may not represent a modified version as an official MetaHz release or use MetaHz names or marks to imply endorsement. This license grants no trademark rights, rights to third-party services, or licenses for external simulation software. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. Your original work and results remain yours; using the Software does not transfer their ownership to MetaHz. Their creation and use must still comply with the applicable licensing path. 5. No warranty THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR CHECKING RESULTS AND SUITABILITY FOR YOUR USE. NO SIMULATION OUTPUT IS A WARRANTY OF PHYSICAL OR FABRICATION PERFORMANCE. 6. Limitation of liability TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE LICENSOR AND CONTRIBUTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY ARISING FROM OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR ITS USE, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE. THIS DOES NOT EXCLUDE LIABILITY OR RIGHTS THAT APPLICABLE LAW DOES NOT ALLOW TO BE EXCLUDED. 7. Termination Your rights under this license terminate if you use the Software outside its grant or otherwise breach these terms. You must stop the unauthorized use and distribution. A separate license agreement may authorize continued use. Termination does not alter the rights of recipients who remain in compliance. 8. Earlier releases and other agreements These terms apply prospectively to releases expressly designated under this license. They do not revoke rights already granted for copies obtained under an earlier license, including the GPL. The prior repository notice is retained in docs/legal/prior-gpl-notice.txt for historical reference; the license supplied with the particular earlier release determines its terms. If you have a separate signed education or commercial agreement with the Licensor, that agreement controls your use within its stated scope. The website license page is a summary; this text or your applicable written agreement governs if a summary differs.
